Episode 32: Breaking Through the Fatherlessness Crisis

This episode discusses a very important topic in our culture — fatherlessness. Did you know that fatherlessness is considered the most significant family or social problem facing America today? For example, 85% of the youth in prison today grew up in a fatherless home. Our guest for this podcast is Ken Bevel, who has an incredible story about his life without a father figure and how it shaped him into the man he is today. You might recognize Ken as an actor from the movies Fireproof and Courageous, but his passion is being an inspiration to young men walking in similar footsteps he did as a young man and teaching them about the gospel.

Ken gets personal with us, and he shares his story of what led him to the Lord and why he has such a heart for children with no father figure. He truly believes that God is calling the church to influence kids that do not have an earthly father leading them. He also provides us with some tips on how to build relationships with these children in our lives. Ready? Let’s go…

KEN BEVEL currently lives in Albany, Georgia with his wife and two children. After 20 years of service in the United States Marine Corps, Ken retired to serve in the ministry at Sherwood Baptist Church. Ken may also be recognized by his roles in the inspirational movies Fireproof, Courageous, and Courageous Legacy.
